Guidance

As an expectant mother, you may be wondering,

How will I know what to do?

What if I get it wrong?

As your due date approaches, it can feel like everyone else knows something you don't. You read the books, save the posts, and try to prepare for every possibility, yet the uncertainty remains. The truth is, no amount of knowledge can completely remove the questions that come with becoming a mother for the first time.

I remember feeling that same uncertainty after my first baby arrived. Although I had prepared as best I could, so much was still unfamiliar. I often turned to my mother-in-law or sisters-in-law for guidance. Even though girls were not married nor did they have children of their own, they seemed to know things that were completely new to me.

Something as simple as taking off my baby's socks and leaving him in a onesie calmed him immediately. My mother-in-love taught me practical things too, how gently rocking him could soothe his cries, how holding him close brought comfort, and how feeding on demand, rather than following a strict schedule, sometimes made those early days easier.

There were moments when I wondered why God had given this child to me instead of someone who seemed far more capable. But over time, I realized that God was teaching me something deeper than motherhood. He was teaching me dependence. He often guides us through the wisdom of others, one small lesson at a time.

Peace doesn't come from knowing every answer. Peace comes from trusting the One who does.

Isaiah reminds us that God gently leads those who are with young. You don't have to see every step ahead. You only need to take the next one with Him. Motherhood is not a test you have to pass perfectly; it's a journey where God walks beside you, teaching, guiding, and strengthening you each day.

So if you're feeling uncertain today, take His hand. Trust that He already knows what comes next. You and God can dance together through this season—He leads, and you follow. And that is enough.
